Tactics is owned and operated by Mark and Karen
Moore...a husband and wife team. A little about Mark: Mark's extensive background is in training and development...having learned instructional design while serving in the US Navy in the early 1980's...which led to roles of increasing responsibility in aerospace, manufacturing, banking, telecommunications and e-learning companies. Telecommuting has roots in providing support to field service operations...and Mark evangelized the technology early on...in 1985...while working on a team that provided remote training to several locations. He also used the technology for remote access to company computers while on the road. (By the way...computers taken along while traveling for business...which allowed remote access...were fondly called "luggables" as they weighed close to 30 lbs. each! No laptops here...) As technology developed Mark was able to participate in a pilot program for telecommuters while working for Nestlé Corporation...working at home several days a week. This opportunity expanded in the aftermath of the Northridge, California earthquake in 1994...when major highways were disrupted for months due to severe damage...an event that led many employers to examine the benefits of telecommuting. Relocation to the Pacific Northwest provided Mark the opportunity to manage teams of professionals that telecommuted (in the banking and telecommunications fields). Mark currently works as a strategic business consultant with some of the largest corporations in America and as a product development manager for an e-learning company while working from home an average of four days a week. He is a Certified Performance Technologist. (ISPI) A little about Karen: Karen's background is in customer service, office and financial management. She spent fourteen years homeschooling their two daughters and as such provides a unique perspective on how to make telecommuting work with a busy family. She also manages the family rental properties...and most recently worked as the seminar coordinator for an internet marketing seminar company. |
